Ladonia Fossil Day |
National Fossil Day Celebration: October 18, 2025 We're looking forward to another fun time at the river when we have Fossil Day in October. Mark your calendars! (Note that when we celebrate out here it's always the Saturday following National Fossil Day!) This is a come and go event! Starting around 9:00 am, come join us to see what fossils come from the North Sulphur River and talk to the pros. Dallas Paleontological Society will have members here to help ID what you have found in the past or that day. It's a come and go event, so be prepared to take a journey into the river and look for fossils. Bring cash for lunch from Big D's food vendor or bring your own snacks. Don't forget to pack extra water and bring something to carry your finds in. We will have port-a-potties available. Special thanks to Mick Tune and the Dallas Paleontological Society for all their expertise and involvement in this celebration of National Fossil Day. LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED We are thankful for the convenient fossil park that UTRWD has provided for fossil hunters and nature lovers. They have continued to support the hobby and study of fossils and although the temporary park at 2990 is closed, there are big plans in the works for a new park east of the dam, on 904. Stay tuned as we will announce the location of Fossil Day later on this year. See you then! |
